CheckoutReturns and Refunds in Accordance with Latvian and EU Legislation
Returns of Goods
In accordance with Latvian and European Union legislation, consumers have the right to return purchased goods within 14 calendar days from the date of receipt without providing a reason. This right applies to both online and distance sales, ensuring consumer protection and confidence when shopping remotely.
Conditions for Returning Goods:
- Original Condition: The goods must be returned in their original condition, including intact packaging, labels, and all accompanying materials.
- Proof of Purchase: A receipt or other proof of purchase must accompany the returned goods.
- Exclusions: Certain products may be excluded from the right to return, such as perishable goods, custom-made items, and sealed goods that have been opened and cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons.
Refunds
When a consumer exercises their right to return goods within the 14-day period, they are entitled to a full refund, including the cost of the goods and the original delivery fee. However, the consumer is typically responsible for the cost of returning the goods unless the seller has agreed to bear these costs or if the goods were faulty or not as described.
Refund Process:
- Inspection: Upon receiving the returned goods, the seller will inspect them to ensure they meet the return conditions.
- Refund Timeline: The seller must process the refund within 14 calendar days from the date of receiving the returned goods. If the consumer cancels the order before the goods are dispatched, the refund should be processed within 14 days from the cancellation request.
- Method of Refund: The refund will be issued using the same payment method the consumer used for the initial purchase, unless the consumer agrees to a different method.
Additional Provisions
- Faulty or Non-Conforming Goods: If the goods are faulty, damaged, or not as described, consumers have the right to request a replacement, repair, or full refund within a reasonable period, without any return shipping costs.
- Consumer Rights: These rights are protected under the Latvian Consumer Rights Protection Law and the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), ensuring that consumers can shop with confidence and receive fair treatment.
For more information on your rights and obligations, you can refer to the Latvian Consumer Rights Protection Centre or the European Consumer Centre.
