BP® Komfort Work Bib & Brace 1487-720 with Knee Pad Pockets
BP Komfort work bib & brace 1487-720, sand, knee pad pockets. A substantial work model for daily use in construction, installation and manufacturing, where lighter cloth wears faster around pockets and knees.
Article 1487-720-44 uses a 65% cotton / 35% polyester fabric at 305 gsm: cotton supports breathability while polyester adds abrasion resistance and dimensional stability.
Most budget workwear is made from 190–245 gsm cloth. It is lighter, breathes just as well — and wears through within a single season. This is 305 grams: the fabric holds its shape, does not go thin after repeated washing, and does not tear at the pockets under the weight of tools.
The fibre ratio is deliberate. Two thirds cotton means air exchange and no clammy feeling against the skin by the end of a shift. One third polyester means abrasion resistance and dimensional stability — the garment neither shrinks nor bags at the knees.
What that means on site
Designed for industrial laundering and daily wear. The dense weave withstands contact with sharp edges, ladders and concrete, where thin fabric rubs through in weeks. Colour does not fade in patches after repeated washes.
Knee pad pockets
The pockets are positioned so the insert does not slip when you stand up and does not press behind the knee when walking. Top entry — the pad comes out before washing in a second.
Worth being clear about: the pockets alone provide no protection. A class under EN 14404 exists only in combination with BP® 1839 knee pads, sold separately. If the job involves constant kneeling, order them at the same time — otherwise the design serves no purpose.
Why a bib & brace. The back and lower back stay covered at all times: the garment does not ride up when bending or raising the arms. Adjustable straps with quick-release buckles and an elasticated back. The chest pocket for documents and a phone stays accessible even when bent over.
Who it suits
Construction, manufacturing, installation, logistics, municipal services, vehicle workshops, agriculture — anywhere clothing is worn every day and replaced no more than once a year.
Honest about what it is not
This is professional workwear, not personal protective equipment. It offers no protection against fire, electric arc or chemicals, and it is not high-visibility clothing. Those applications require certified garments — our catalogue has a separate protective range.
Manufacturer: Bierbaum-Proenen GmbH & Co. KG, Domstraße 55–73, 50668 Cologne, Germany. A family business making workwear since 1788.
