Description

Protective jacket for welding, power engineering and metallurgy. Top welding protection class and the highest resistance level against molten metal splashes.

KG 070 fabric: 58% aramid, 41% viscose, 1% antistatic fibre

Aramid does not melt and does not support combustion. Unlike treated cotton, where flame resistance relies on a finish that washes out over time, here the protection is built into the fibre itself and lasts for the entire service life of the garment. Viscose provides breathability — without it, working a full shift in this kind of clothing would not be possible. The one percent of carbon fibre is responsible for the antistatic properties.

Protection

EN ISO 11611:2015, Class 2-A1 — welding and allied processes. The standard defines two classes; Class 2 is the higher one, intended for demanding work including heavy spatter and awkward positions.

EN ISO 11612:2015 — A1, B1, C1, E3, F1 — heat and flame. E3 is the highest of three levels of protection against molten iron splashes: the fabric withstands 200 grams of molten metal in testing.

IEC 61482-2, Class 1 — thermal hazards of an electric arc. Short-circuit current of 4 kA with an arc duration of 500 ms.

EN 1149-5 in conjunction with EN 1149-3 — antistatic properties. Prevents incendiary discharge in areas at risk of explosion.

Construction

• Stand-up collar with concealed press studs

Arm-lift system — the jacket does not ride up when raising the arms

• Ergonomic cut with unrestricted movement

• Adjustable cuffs

• Two chest pockets with flaps

• Napoleon pocket and inner pocket

• Suitable for industrial laundering

Who it suits

Welders, foundry and metallurgy workers, power grid and substation personnel, petrochemical industry, high-voltage equipment maintenance.

Important to know

This garment is not electrically insulating as per EN 50286. Complete protection also requires a welding visor, gloves and other personal protective equipment. The jacket must not be removed or opened in a flammable or explosive atmosphere. Wearing protective clothing can cause heat stress — maximum working times and sufficient breaks must be observed.

Care and storage

Check the seams and the function of all fastenings before each use. Avoid contact with paint, varnishes and acids. Store in a dry, dust-free place away from direct sunlight, in light-proof packaging.
