BP® Work Shorts 1610-559 with Concealed Buttons
BP work shorts 1610-559, white. The fastening is concealed under a placket, leaving a smooth outer surface for vehicle workshops, glazing and work around finished materials.
Article 1610-559-21 uses a 65% polyester / 35% cotton fabric at 245 gsm: it is made for frequent laundering, holds its shape and remains breathable.
An ordinary work jacket is a source of scratches. A button, a snap, a rivet, a zip pull: lean over a bonnet, rest against glass, press up against finished furniture — and there is a mark on the surface. Putting it right costs more than the whole set of workwear.
Here the fastening is tucked under a placket. From the outside, smooth fabric with no hard components at all. This is not about looks; it is about work not turning into damage.
Shorts built as workwear. A full work model rather than a summer compromise: the same pockets, the same fabric weight, the same concealed fastening. For warehouses, production sites with no leg-coverage requirement, groundwork and landscaping, summer installations.
Design detail: the garment carries reflective elements. This is a trim feature rather than a protective property — the garment has not been tested to EN ISO 20471 and is not high-visibility clothing. Where the work requires verified visibility, certified garments from our high-visibility range are needed.
Where it matters
Vehicle workshops and paint shops, glazing, furniture manufacture and installation, work on finished lacquered and polished surfaces, appliance installation, delivery and assembly at the customer's premises.
A separate field is food and pharmaceutical production, where a concealed fastening is needed for a different reason: a button must not come off and end up in the product.
The fabric
Two thirds polyester for resistance to industrial laundering and dimensional stability, one third cotton for breathability. Weight is 245 grams per square metre: not lightweight shirting but a proper work cloth that holds its shape and does not go sheer after washing.
The garments are designed for processing in a professional laundry, not only for domestic washing. On shift work with centralised laundering, that determines how many years the uniform lasts.
Honest about what it is not
Professional workwear, not personal protective equipment. No protection against fire, electric arc, chemicals or cuts, and not high-visibility clothing. Those applications require certified garments — our catalogue has a separate protective range.
Manufacturer: Bierbaum-Proenen GmbH & Co. KG, Domstraße 55–73, 50668 Cologne, Germany. A family business making workwear since 1788.
